To draw these two ravens I focused on more than just producing an authentic design, following the strict rules of the Mammen style, a period of Viking art characterized by very strict rules that ordered the knotwork, and I took particular inspiration from an ivory plaque that decorates the Cammin chest.
My focus was also on creating a subject that would enhance the sign of the tattoo performed in the traditional handpoke technique.
It was finished in two sessions, watching the video you can see some details of the process, but above all you can notice how the sign I wanted to use is much more "alive" and "aggressive" than my usual :)
I like to place a clear division between my machine work and my hand work, experiencing these two techniques in a different way, I use them to do different things :)
